I didn’t really post anything about it. But a few weeks ago, one of our drivers, Brent, was in an accident. He was coming to work, to get signed up for insurance of all things and ran into the back of a pipe trailer. He was pretty bad, stable but critical. They had to amputate his right arm, he broke all his ribs and had a collapsed lung. He isn’t really the reason of the post but in a way is.
Two of our guys were on their way to Odessa to see him last night. A halliburton truck pulled out in front of them and they wrecked. Joey, was ok. He was bumped up, was sent to the hospital. (He’s here today but is really sore) But Jimmy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Julie and I came in good spirits this morning, even though we had a hard day yesterday and knew today was also going to be equally hard.. just with the fact that we are closing out the month. Then Lonny came in. His face sullen, asking if we had heard the news.. We figured Brent might have turned for the worse.. Not the fact that Jimmy and Joey were in a wreck. I really didn’t even know Jimmy. I mean we’ve talked, said Hello.. etc ya know, but I didn’t really know him like everyone else.. but still of course human nature took over and I had to cry. It’s so weird because yesterday him and Roger were in here joking around with Julie.. laughing at a picture of Joe and Joey on myspace…happy as can be and then this happens.
Lonny did say that in other news, Brent is doing really good. He was awake yesterday and in good spirits of his arm. Also Terry, another driver became a grandfather yesterday.
I know life is like that. One minute they are here, and the next minute they’re gone… A life is born and a life is taken away. I shed my tears, but I’m not going to be mad about it. All I have to think is maybe this was his time. It sucks the way it happened but God wanted Jimmy with him.
If you would, please keep everyone in the M & M family and in the Corey family in your prayers . Keep Brent in your prayers as well while he is healing.
